Everyone knows Tiger Balm.
But do you know its cousin the monkey balm?
The monkey balm is produced in Bangkok.
He is well known in Thailand but also throughout Asia.
The Thais use it in particular as a preventive muscle treatment.
The monkey balm jar bears the image of a white monkey, a symbol of immortality.
He is squatting and holding a peach which symbolizes longevity in Asia.
The monkey is also a sign of Chinese astrology. One of its powers is to fight evil spirits and evil.
The Thais praise the preventive virtues of this balm, but also its curative virtues.
One of the main differences with Tiger Balm is therefore this preventive action.
1. It prepares the muscles in case of great efforts. Before training, some athletes spread monkey balm on their body to quickly warm up their muscles and prevent strains.
You can therefore massage your muscles before a major sporting effort or before a hike.
2. It prevents the appearance of aches. The balm promotes blood circulation, so toxins won't get stuck in your muscles. Goodbye aches!
3. It calms arthritis attacks . Most elders in Thailand have their little jar of monkey balm, and use it in case of an arthritis attack.
4. It relieves migraines . Just massage your temples with monkey balm.
5. It unclogs the nose . The monkey balm is a perfect ally in case of stuffy or congested nose. Apply it in the nostrils and inhale the scent it releases. It is also recommended to treat respiratory disorders.
6. It relieves the bites of mosquitoes, fleas, spiders or even bees. Simply apply the monkey balm on the bite to quickly calm the irritation caused by these bites.
You can buy it right now here online.
Jars of monkey balm can also be found in some pharmacies.
But still be careful of counterfeits because like Tiger Balm, they are common.
The advantage of monkey balm is that it consists only of natural products.
Camphor, menthol, cinnamon, clove and essential oils give it that characteristic smell.
This smell is however much less strong than that of tiger balm.
The monkey balm is used for external use only. However, it is not recommended to spread it on wounds or open wounds.
Avoid contact with eyes or mucous membranes. Finally, do not use it on children under 2 years old.
